CAFFEINE COMA
INSTRUMENTATION: Sax Quartet (S.A.T.Bar) + ELECTRONICS
DURATION: 5 Minutes
YEAR OF COMPOSITION: 2024
CAFFEINE COMA explores the paradox of modern productivity: the relentless pursuit of achievement fuelled by caffeine, only to end in exhaustion. Written for saxophone quartet and electronics, the work contrasts the expressive, human qualities of the ensemble with an increasingly invasive electronic soundscape that reflects overstimulation and mental fatigue. As the two forces become progressively intertwined, the music captures the accelerating cycle of ambition, dependence and burnout.
CAFFEINE COMA is a reflection on a culture that prizes constant productivity while overlooking its personal cost.
